*Marc Jacobs is an American clothing designer born (on April 9, 1963) and raised in New York. Following his studies at the Parsons School of Design, he became prominent onthe fashion scene when he designed a "grunge" collection for Perry Ellis, leading to his immediate dismissal.
*His grandmother, who he credits with being "the biggest influence in life", taught him how to knit.
Jacobs is currently the artistic director for Louis Vuitton, spertheading such collaborations as Stephen Sprous's graffiti bags and Takashi Murakami's pastel-colored accessories. His own clothing lines, Marc Jacobs and the less expensive Marc By Marc Jacobs, are also extremely popular.

Turns out those Marc Jacobs wedding rumors were true after all!
Marc and his Brazilian boy toy Lorenzo Martone were married in a civil ceremony in France this past Sunday. "He's totally excited,' said an insider. "He said he's head-over-heels in love with Lorenzo. His life is coming together now."
